Farrar Moore and Sheryl Cook have been providing “Help! Am I the Parent Now?” seminars in local churches and senior facilities in the Middle Tennessee area since 1997. Statistics such as, “by the year 2040, twelve million people will be unable to live without caregivers in their life, and an additional forty-two million will be dependent upon assistance,” reveal the critical need for caregiver education and support.

Farrar and Sheryl both have family caregiving experience. Farrar’s parents were primary caregivers for both of her grandmothers. Farrar watched and helped as her parents gave up much of their own lives to care for these very different women.

After their deaths, Farrar’s mother then became ill, and her father at his retirement provided 24-hour care for her. Farrar walked with her father through the last eleven years of her mother’s life, helping him adjust to a single life and dealing with his own health problems until his death.

Sheryl’s father passed away at age 79, after a long struggle with cancer. She now helps care for her 90+ year-old mother, who has multiple health problems. As Sheryl has personally experienced caregiving challenges, she knows that learning basic principles and strategies concerning dealing with the elderly in her own life has made a vast difference in how she reacts to problem-solving. Consequently, her relationships are positively affected when she is providing care.

Farrar Moore and Sheryl Cook have also been providing HOPE Workshops through the YMCA and local churches in the Middle Tennessee area since 1999. This Biblically-based workshop guides participants in a process that helps them eliminate the sense of hopelessness and inability to move on with their lives due to any unforgiveness and bitterness that robs them of the peace and joy Jesus died for them to enjoy.

Sheryl has a graduate degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University and is a Certified Grief Recovery Counselor.

Farrar, also Certified Grief Recovery Counselor, has a graduate degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Seminary.
